You will find that there are interesting things here other than history. Council Grove has two nice lakes. The Corp of Engineers maintains the larger of the two. It is one of the top outdoor recreation sites in Kansas with ten developed parks for camping, picnicking, nature trails, fishing, sightseeing, and countless other activities. There are 3,310 acres of water to boat, water ski, fish, and play on. In addition, Council Grove provides an all-terrain vehicle area below the dam in Outlet Channel East. The other lake, which is the main water source for Council Grove, is the Council Grove City Lake, a 500-acre lake that also offers water activities. In addition there are in excess of 350 private homes and cabins. Maybe you will enjoy life here so much you will want to make one of these homes or cabins your first or second home. There is also a wide variety of hunting available. |
